Why

• The role of joint envisioning is to concretize a specific vision (and choice) among possible future states. By jointly envisioning, the advisor and the client imagine (in rich detail) how the end result might look, without prematurely giving in to the temptation to solve the problem.

What

Envisioning entails addressing at least the following questions:

• What are we really aiming for here?
• What will it look like when we get there?
• How will we know we are there?

• Instead of using the words “why don’t we?”, ask “how would things be if…”
